Stormy Monday Show

The Stormy Monday Show is dedicated to James Browne and the late David Jackson who aired the original show in NYC on WBAI back in the 1980′s, along with me.  I was working with them, contributing my knowledge of New Orleans music and they expanded my awareness of Jazz and even Rhythm and Blues.  That was then, and I have oh so many endearing memories.

I have been on the air with the current incarnation of the Stormy Monday Show for more than 2 years now, this time with a different mindset.  I am a singer songwriter musician and most of my close friends are too.  The most common complaint to arise from these otherwise happy folk is about the struggle to receive airplay. The Stormy Monday Show rose again out of that need.  It began with playing internationally known musicians, laced with lesser known talent, and they were people I knew. Now it has grown  ( and with it my list of friends) to incorporating thousands of neglected  and immensely talented artists who have contacted us and wanted to be involved in The Stormy Monday scene. I get to play the music we, as a Stormy Monday family, have come to enjoy.  It’s Blues, it’s Jazz and it’s Soul; it is a history of artist long dead and gone, but brought back to life in living musical color. Where else can you hear the music of Ironing Board Sam, Cousin Alice, Lady Bianca and Joe Survival Caruso in one night on the radio? You’d have to come to the conclusion,” I must be listening to The Stormy Monday Show”.  It’s all about the music and artistry.  I hope you will book a spot in your living room on a Saturday night to tune in to one sweet little hour, that you’ll wish were two.
